About the Madinah Society Network

What do our Madinah Societies do?

Madinah Societies essentially have three key functions: Education, Da’wah and Welfare.

Our societies organise an educational programme of lectures and weekly classes where students have the opportunity to learn about the beautiful religion of Islam from some of the UK and the world’s most renowned scholars and teachers. Each of our societies use all opportunities throughout the year to educate both Muslims and non-Muslims on Islam’s true values of love, peace and tolerance through the free distribution of literature and interfaith initiatives. Madinah Societies are there to ensure that Sunni students receive representation at their universities and an environment where they can freely and comfortably practice their religion without censure. Our societies look to ensure that each student enjoys their time at university whilst being a member of their Madinah Society. This is done by the organising of various social activities and access to chaplaincy services.

So, what is the Madinah Society Network?

The Madinah Society Network is an umbrella body for all Madinah Societies across the UK & Ireland. Madinah Societies work directly with the Network for services, support and opportunities at a national level. The Network provides tools to support the development of Madinah Societies, with access to resources, funding, training, speakers and expert advice. The Network facilitates for Madinah Societies to work with each other on campaigns and common goals and provides opportunities for them to be able to learn from one another – especially at the Annual Conference.

What is the Madinah Society Network’s Mission?

To provide representation and welfare services for the UK’s Sunni Muslim student population as well as education of Traditional Islam in an environment that promotes: love for Allah (the Almighty) and his Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him), his Blessed Household, his Companions and all other pious people (May Allah be pleased with them all) and all things relating to him (Peace Be Upon Him).

Our Aims and Objectives

  • To serve as the national umbrella body for Madinah Societies at universities across the United Kingdom by providing coordination and assistance.
  • To provide representation and welfare services for the United Kingdom’s Sunni Sufi Muslim student population.
  • To provide education of Traditional Islam in an environment that promotes: love for Allah (the Almighty) and his Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him), his Blessed Household, his Companions and all other pious people (May Allah be pleased with them all) and all things relating to him (Peace Be Upon Him).
